![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The ‘N94’ iPhone is rumored to run on Apple’s A5 chip, which powers the iPad 2. It isn’t entirely surprising that there is no mention of the device in FCC’s equipment authorization database given the fact that Apple often requests the FCC to keep such entries private until launch date, and in some cases even for extended periods after the launch. The GSM iPhone 4 has an FCC ID of BCG-E2380A, its CDMA variant has an FCC ID of BCG-E2422A, as compared to BCG-E2430A, the identifier assigned to the N94 prototype. The image, embedded below, is included in every iOS device, albeit with different identifiers, and can be found in About -> Regulatory. This piece of information comes from an image named “ ~iphone.png” found in the newly released iOS 5 beta 7. The ‘N94’ iPhone prototype, whose references were first found in iOS 4.3 SDK, has been assigned an FCC ID of BCG-E2430A.
